Celebrate the biggest national event of the year with a spectacular recreation of Buckingham Palace and Pall Mall decorated as a traditional British street party complete with cake, corgis and fireworks
The NVIDIA Jubilee Street Party has been built to mark the Platinum Jubilee, with Buckingham Palace lit up in the evening by a stunning fireworks and light show all enhanced by NVIDIA’s RTX ray tracing technology. The virtual world took three designers 650 hours within two weeks to build, 45 million blocks and covers a virtual area of roughly 830,000 square feet. The street party includes bunting, cake, champagne and a game of pin the tail on the corgi.
It’s time for a Royal party! Today a traditional British street party begins marking the Platinum Jubilee - but it won’t be seen on the streets of London, the festivities all take place within Minecraft!
The virtual street party takes place at a fully digital recreation of Buckingham Palace and Pall Mall, the capital’s most iconic landmark. The stunning creation was brought to life by specialist artist Ushio Tokura using NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX GPU’s and the power of real-time ray tracing to deliver jaw-dropping visual fidelity and realism. It took 650 hours over two weeks to complete using 45 million individual blocks and spans a virtual area of roughly 830,000 square feet
Commissioned by NVIDIA, the street party gives everyone around the world a chance to visit the UK's iconic capital to be part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations and experience a traditional British street party with all the trimmings.
The festivities start at Pall Mall in London where crowds will gather next to the royal guards wearing special platinum coloured jackets to mark the occasion. As players move down the Mall, they will be able to see Buckingham Palace and the Victoria Memorial - a monument to Queen Victoria - bathed in glorious pixel-perfect sunlight, thanks to ray-traced global illumination.
Once players have savoured exploring these National landmarks, the celebrations really begin with the traditional British street party laid out for all to enjoy. Decorated with bunting and balloons, a street band will provide musical entertainment as cake, champagne and sandwiches are served. There will also be a number of activities to enjoy, including a game of pin the tail on the corgi.
No party would be complete without fireworks, as Buckingham Palace comes to life in the night world with an incredible fireworks and light show that uses real-time ray tracing to realistically light up the world around players by simulating the physical behaviour of light, enabling reflections, shadows and other natural lighting effects.
